Introducing the “East-Legon Children’s Chapel,” a dynamic multipurpose hall designed to serve as the children and teens’ center for a church community. Built above the church’s existing car park, this innovative structure is elevated on uniquely shaped peripheral columns, preserving ground-level parking while creating a vibrant space above.
The East-Legon Children’s Chapel features a conference room and three distinct octagonal halls, each intended for different age groups. These halls come together to form a unique geometric layout, with the columns elegantly piercing from the ground level all through beyond the roof level, adding architectural intrigue. The halls are separated by movable partitions, allowing for flexible space configurations, including the option to combine all three halls into a single expansive area.
The peripheral corridor is enclosed with an artistic wooden lattice that serves as a shading device, and is purposefully terminated below the roof level to reveal clerestories, filling the hall spaces with natural light.
Seamlessly connected to the existing church building through its corridors, the Chapel encourages smooth movement between spaces. This architectural masterpiece balances functionality and aesthetic appeal, standing as a symbol of thoughtful design and community spirit within the church environment.
